Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

(1) Bloomfield ATV Trail                                                                               (Reg. 1225)
Proponent: Clarenville Area Snowmobile and ATV Association

The proponent intends to clean up approximately one kilometre of cut-over to connect two existing All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) trails with a six-metre wide trail that will be groomed in the winter. The work will be done by two people with chain saws (no heavy equipment); starting in January and lasting one month. No bridges or corduroy are needed. The undertaking was registered on November 15, 2005; public comments are due by December 21, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by December 30, 2005.

(2) Argentia Wind Farm                                                                                  (Reg. 1224)
Proponent: Wind Project Inc.

The proponent proposes to construct and operate a wind farm consisting of 14 to 17 wind turbine generators with a total capacity of 25.5 to 42 megawatts. The wind farm is to be located within the Town of Placentia on 15 acres of land currently owned by the Argentia Management Authority. The wind turbine generators are to be conical steel towers with a hub height of 64.7 to 80 meters. The three-bladed rotors are to have a diameter of 70.5 to 90 metres. The rated electrical capacity from each turbine will be between 1.5 and 3.0 megawatts. The undertaking will consist of gravel access roads, foundations and turbines with transformers, underground and above ground power cables and lines, a substation and a permanent meteorological tower. The undertaking was registered on November 14, 2005; public comments are due by December 21, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by December 29, 2005.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

Proponent: Riverside Fur Farms Inc.

(2) Chapel Island Mink Fur Farm                                                                       (Reg. 1215)
Proponent: Cottlesville Farm Ltd.
