Premier announces new customer
management centre to open in Mount Pearl
Premier Danny Williams; Kathy Dunderdale,
Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development; Brian Delaney, Senior Vice
President, North American Operations for TeleTech Holdings, Inc.; Mount Pearl
Mayor Steve Kent; and Mount Pearl MHA Dave Denine today announced TeleTech, a
global leader in delivering and managing customer management solutions, leased a
portion of Mount Pearl Square. After TeleTech reconfigures the facility for
their business and signs a client for the site, they will actively begin
recruiting for employees. It is anticipated that approximately 600 full-time
equivalent jobs will be created when the facility is fully operational.
"By supporting the growth of new industries and promoting the province as a
sound place to invest, government continues to demonstrate its commitment to
building a stronger economy in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Premier
Williams. "We are very pleased that a company like TeleTech, with a solid track
record and reputation in the industry, has made a commitment to create a
significant number of new jobs in the province. The Government of Newfoundland
and Labrador has been pleased to help facilitate this decision."
TeleTech is a global provider of customer management and business process
outsourcing (BPO) services and provides a variety of customer management
services to its corporate clients, including telephone and internet-based
customer management support.
"TeleTech is focused on providing multifaceted business solutions to our
clients, delivering significant value to them. We believe talented employees who
can meet TeleTechs complex demands are essential to the success of our
business. Major factors in choosing Mount Pearl were the educated workforce and
the business environment of the province," said Brian Delaney, Senior Vice
President, North American Operations, TeleTech. "The provincial government and
the City of Mount Pearl successfully created a winning partnership with TeleTech,
and we look forward to joining the community. We plan to make a formal
announcement later in the year, when we officially place a TeleTech client at
the Mount Pearl location."
"This investment by TeleTech will provide jobs for the people of Newfoundland
and Labrador and significant economic spin-off benefits for the province as a
whole," said Minister Dunderdale. "TeleTech is a world leader in its field, and
we look forward to a long and productive relationship with them."
The provincial government will provide an incentive package to TeleTech in the
form of a wage rebate on its total payroll. The incentives will be performance
based and paid out once the jobs have been created and verified. The company
encourages those who are interested in employment with TeleTech to visit their
Internet-based employment site at
//hirepoint.teletech.com and submit their application online. "Although
we will not open the Mount Pearl site until we have a signed client for
placement, we are accepting applications to create a database of qualified
potential employees. We can then ramp up the facility very quickly," said Brian
Delaney.
"Our city is thrilled with TeleTechs decision to locate in Mount Pearl," stated
Mayor Kent. "Mount Pearl contributes significantly to the economy of the region
and the province, and TeleTech is a very welcome addition to our business
community."
"This is great news for the City of Mount Pearl," said MHA Denine. "I am looking
forward to TeleTech coming to the city and to the benefits the companys
presence will bring to the area. The jobs created by the company will benefit
residents of Mount Pearl and the region as a whole. I am delighted with todays
announcement."
