Supplier seminars will
show business how to provide goods and services to government
Minister Kathy Dunderdale is pleased
to announce that the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural
Development, in collaboration with the Canadian Manufacturers and
Exporters, Newfoundland and Labrador Division, is hosting two
supplier development seminars this week. The first is being held in
Gander on April 27, the second will be held in Grand Falls-Windsor,
April 28.
"The three levels of government, federal, provincial and municipal
between them purchase hundreds of millions of dollars worth of goods
and services every year in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Minister
Dunderdale. "The aim of these free seminars is to alert potential
suppliers to the opportunities available to vendors in all parts of
the province and show them how to participate in these business
opportunities."
The Gander seminar will take place today (Wednesday, April 27) at
the Hotel Gander from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will include
presentations from municipal, provincial and federal purchasing
agents, from school, college, and hospital officials, from
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, Gander International Airport
Authority, and Canadian Forces Base 9 Wing.
The Grand Falls-Windsor seminar will take place Thursday at the
Mount Peyton Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will have similar
presentations. A networking lunch will be provided at both events.
"There are tremendous opportunities to sell goods and services to
government in all parts of the province. I urge local suppliers to
build relationships with local purchasing agents," said Minister
Dunderdale.
