Supplier development initiative to
be held in Corner Brook
Kathy Dunderdale, Minister of Innovation, Trade
and Rural Development, announced today that the department will host a supplier
development information session in Corner Brook on Tuesday, February 22 at the
Glynmill Inn.
"The information session is part of a supplier development initiative to assist
businesses in bidding on government goods and services," said Minister
Dunderdale. " The overall goal of the initiative is to strengthen the
relationship and understanding between public sector purchasing agents and
private sector groups to facilitate the development of a local supplier
development community."
The supplier development initiative will allow private sector firms to meet with
public sector purchasing agents to learn about government purchasing
requirements, and purchasing agents to gain an understanding of supplier
capabilities within western Newfoundland. No potential supplier, or firm is too
large or too small to participate. The only requirement is a willingness to
expand potential business opportunities by supplying goods and services to the
public sector.
"The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to seeking
opportunities designed to support business throughout the province," said
Minister Dunderdale. "A working group of government departments and agencies has
developed this supplier development initiative and the Corner Brook information
session is the first of a number of seminars that will be held around the
province."
