Five year agreement signals move to productive and positive labour climate

Joan Burke, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment and the Minister responsible for the Labour Relations Agency, today acknowledged the five year collective agreement reached between Corner Brook Pulp and Paper and members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union Local 60N.

I want to take this opportunity to commend both parties on reaching a new agreement which will help to ensure labour stability in this region of our province, said Minister Burke. The agreement was reached with the assistance of Cliff Wells, conciliation officer with the Labour Relations Agency.

The Labour Relations Agency is dedicated to fostering a positive labour-management climate across Newfoundland and Labrador by providing facilitation and mediation services.

As an agency, we will continue to work toward the improvement of labour relations and maintaining a stable labour relations climate that supports the provinces economic growth, said Minister Burke.
