Environment and Conservation Minister
Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Charlottetown Mink Farm
(Reg. 1229)
Proponent: Labrador Quality Furs Inc.
The proponent proposes to establish a mink fur farm on the Pinsent�s
Arm Road near the Town of Charlottetown, Labrador. The proponent
will construct two breeding sheds, a storage shed and a feed
kitchen. The 14-acre site will have fencing. The farm will focus on
mink pelt production and will start with an initial breeding stock
of 500 pregnant minks. Construction is slated to take approximately
16 weeks. The undertaking was registered on December 7, 2005; public
comments are due by January 13, 2006; and the minister's decision is
due by January 21, 2006.
The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved
and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are
invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and
are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
