Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Chapel Island Mink Fur Farm                             (Reg. 1215)
Proponent: Cottlesville Farm Ltd. (Junior and Katherine Philpott)

The proponent proposes to construct a 1,000 female (breeder) mink fur farm on Chapel Island to the north of the causeway over The Reach (from Boyd�s Cove), off Route 340. The mink fur farm is to be located on a seven hectare site accessed off an existing forestry road. Construction is planned to include three sheds/barns 100 metres by 12.5 metres for raising mink surrounded by perimeter fencing. The undertaking was registered on September 30, 2005; public comments are due by November 4, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by November 14, 2005.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
