Environment and Conservation Minister
Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

District 8 (Lewisporte) CBPP 5-Year Plan Amendment (Salmon Pond)

Proponent: Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited
The proponent plans an amendment to the five-year operating plan to
harvest 23,349 cubic metres of timber over a 240 hectare area north
of Glenwood and west and southwest of Little Rocky Pond in the
Salmon Pond Operating Area, in Forestry District 8 (Lewisporte
Management Area). Harvesting is planned to commence in June 2005 and
continue until December 2008. The harvesting will be by conventional
mechanical methods and will not require construction of any
additional primary forest access roads. The project was registered
on March 22, 2005; public comments are due by April 27, 2005; and,
the minister's decision is due by May 6, 2005.
The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved
and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are
invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and
are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
