Preliminary Count

The following is being distributed at the request of Wayne Green, Chief Electoral Officer:

Based on preliminary vote counts received by telephone, from two Advance Polls, 31 Regular Polls, and the Special Mail In Ballot Count, the results of the June 23, 2005 by election in the Electoral District of Exploits are as follows:

FORSEY, Clayton Progressive Conservative Party 2,605

SAUNDERS, George Liberal Party 1,958

WHELAN, John L. New Democratic Party 159

The official addition of the votes for the by election in Exploits is scheduled to take place at the office of the returning officer, 250 Water Street at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2005. Upon conclusion of the official addition of the votes, the candidate who receives the largest number of votes shall be declared elected by the returning officer.
