Minister announces additional runs for the MV Apollo

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced that there will be two additional runs for the MV Apollo this week.

Minister Rideout said: "Weve received calls from local residents as well as the area MHA, and, following consultations with the local ferry users committee, have agreed that the Apollo should make additional runs. The additional trips will provide increased capacity as individuals make plans for the upcoming long weekend.

"This service exists for people on the south coast of Labrador. Our government is committed to meeting the needs of local residents. We will provide the best ferry service possible, within our fiscal means."

"This announcement will be welcome news for anyone traveling during what is likely to be a busy weekend. This is another example of how we're taking strategic action with our limited resources," said Trevor Taylor, Minister Responsible for Labrador Affairs. "Whether it is investments in public safety through additional RCMP officers, in health care through additional social workers, or funding for road improvements throughout Labrador, we're listening to Labradorians and taking action within our means."

On Wednesday, November 10, the Apollo will depart St. Barbe at 3:30 p.m. and leave Blanc Sablon at 6:00 p.m. These same departures times will also apply on Sunday, November 14.
