Minister to participate in meetings and activities throughout the province

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, will participate in a number of meetings and activities throughout the province over the next number of days.

Tomorrow, July 21, Minister Rideout and the MHA for Burin-Placentia West, Clyde Jackman, will be meeting with officials from Petit Forte regarding the recently approved road work of paving on Route 215. The minister and MHA will also be discussing the ferry service and roadway issues in South East Bight.

Minister Rideout said, "Infrastructure development is a key priority for this government. I am pleased to have this opportunity to review the infrastructure in Burin-Placentia West District."

On July 22, Minister Rideout will be speaking at the Fish, Fun and Folk Festival in Twillingate. He will be speaking at the opening ceremonies at George Hawkins Memorial Arena. This will take place at 2:30 p.m. The minister stated, "I have attended this festival previously and it is a pleasure to be able to do so again. I look forward to addressing festival-goers on behalf of government."

Minister Rideout will be attending a meeting of the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce on July 23. The meeting is being held at the Albatross Hotel in Gander. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss issues of the town and its surrounding municipalities.

On July 24, Minister Rideout will be in Lewisporte District, his own district, for Stoneville Day. "I have attended this festival in previous years and it has been very enjoyable. I encourage everyone in the area to come out and do the same," said Minister Rideout.

On July 25 and 26 the minister will be attending the Cabinet retreat at Plum Point. Also on July 26, he will attend the French Shore Celebrations grand opening in Conche.
