Road improvements for Bonavista North

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, and Harry Harding, MHA for the District of Bonavista North, today announced roads upgrades for the district to be completed in 2004-05.

"The Department of Transportation and Works recognizes the importance of a quality road infrastructure. To that end, the road users of Bonavista North will see improvement in their roads and bridges in the coming year valued at $960,000," said Minister Rideout.

Projects planned for the Bonavista North district include the rehabilitation of Ragged Harbour Bridge, replacing culverts on Routes 320 and 330 respectively, upgrading and paving a section of Route 232 from Noggin Cove, toward Fredricton, and upgrading along Route 320, Trinity, toward New Wes Valley.

MHA Harry Harding said, "The work planned for the district will not only improve the quality of roads but also make it more safe for commuters. I am pleased to see that upgrading will take place along Route 320 which is a much traveled road for the residents of my district.

"I am also pleased with the work that will be taking place on the Gander Bay Road, valued at $500,000. This work will also be of great benefit to the residents of Bonavista North. This road is a major link to central Newfoundland for the people of my district and has been in a poor condition."
