Road work announced for Burin-Placentia West

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, and Clyde Jackman MHA for the District of Burin-Placentia West, today announced funding of over $1.1 million from the 2004 Provincial Road Improvement Program has been allocated to the district for road work.

"Government is committed to a safe and reliable transportation network and I am pleased to announce that the road users of Burin Placentia West will see improvement in their roads and bridges in the coming year," said Minister Rideout.

Projects planned for the district include:

  • realignment of bailey bridge at Red Harbour;
  • widening of the ditch at "The Scrape";
  • rehabilitation of curbs, rails and expansion joints at Marystown Underpass;
  • pave section of Route 215 (Petit Forte towards Boat Harbour);
  • replace culvert at Route 215 (Boat Harbour);
  • upgrade section of Rushoon.

"I am pleased to note that road users in the district will see improvements in their bridges as well as roads," said MHA Clyde Jackman. "The work planned for the area will be most welcome by motorists."
