Hoopsters off to CP-Atlantic

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will send six males to this weekend�s Centre for Performance-Atlantic Basketball Camp in Nova Scotia. The camp will run from October 22-25 and will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The six athletes were selected at an open camp in early September and will attend three four-day camps between now and March. The head coach of the program for Atlantic Canada is Tim McGarrigle, the former head coach of Dalhousie University and the University College of Cape Breton. Coaches attending the session from Newfoundland and Labrador include Mr. John Elkins of Flatrock, coach of Prince of Wales Collegiate (PWC) boys team, along with Mr. Yasir Khan of St. John�s, assistant coach of the PWC boys team. Athletes selected to attend the camp include: Justin Grainger, Mark Woodland, and Jeremy Somerton of St. John�s, Mark Noseworthy of Mount Pearl, Stephen Singleton of St. Joseph�s and Chad Warren of Corner Brook.

The CP-Atlantic is a Canada basketball program aimed at developing potential athletes for future national team programs. The camp will involve the top 30 athletes in Atlantic Canada between the ages of 12-17. This CP-Atlantic is one of five centres operating across the country.
