Premier and minister to attend opening of Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games

Premier Danny Williams and Tourism, Culture and Recreation Minister Paul Shelley will attend the official opening ceremonies of the 2004 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games in Marystown tomorrow, August 7, at 6:00 p.m. Over 1,400 athletes, coaches and managers are expected to take part in the week-long event which will feature nine sports and teams from eight regions of the province.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Games is a program of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Held every second year, alternating winter and summer, the games are the largest multi-sport event staged for youth in the province, bringing together young athletes from 11 to 18 years of age from all regions of the province.
