National Midget Hoop Scores

The Newfoundland Midget Girls team, competing at the National Basketball Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia, lost to a strong Ontario team 69-51. The top scorer for Newfoundland was Sara Sturge of Mt. Pearl, with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Dallas Costello of Avondale had 8 points, and Robyn Kenny of Corner brook had 7 points and 7 rebounds. The girls� next game is today, against Manitoba, at 1:30 p.m.

The Newfoundland Boys Team were pounded by a strong Ontario team 115-46. The top scorer for the Newfoundland team was Stephen Butland of St. Mary's Bay, with 13 points. Mark Noseworthy of Mt. Pearl had 8 points and 5 rebounds. The boys face Manitoba on today at 9:30 a.m.
