Minister releases 2004 Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism Guide

Tourism, Culture and Recreation Minister Paul Shelley today announced that the 2004 Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism Guide is now available for distribution. The 200-page guide contains essential information to help tourists plan their visit to this province.

"Newfoundland and Labrador has become known around the world as a unique tourist destination with an experience like no other," said Minister Shelley. "Through increased marketing initiatives, including the distribution of an annual travel guide, government will work to ensure that Newfoundland and Labrador becomes a leading year-round tourism destination. As minister, I encourage residents of Newfoundland and Labrador and visitors abroad to discover the natural beauty that we call home."

The 2004 Travel Guide was designed and produced by the department and has a new magazine editorial style format. The up-front section focuses on our key experiences - sightseeing, touring, cultural and outdoor adventure experiences - that make a Newfoundland and Labrador vacation truly unique.

The travel guide is distributed in response to all non-resident tourism inquiries generated through advertising and sales, inquiries to the tourism call centre, and direct mail, e-mail and Web site inquiries. The department will distribute approximately 200,000 copies of the travel guide throughout the year, primarily to inquiries in Canada and the Northeast United States. The travel guide is distributed to tour operators, wholesalers, group leaders and travel media, and is available at Canadian Tourism Commission offices in international key markets and in provincial and regional Visitor Information Centres.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Travel Guide is produced annually by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. To obtain a copy, please call 1-800-563-6353.
