Capital works projects announced for the Baie Verte district

Jack Byrne, Municipal and Provincial Affairs Minister, and Paul Shelley, MHA for the Baie Verte District, today announced $1.17 million in funding for capital works.

"The Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs is pleased to provide funding for these projects which range from road upgrading to water and sewer improvements," said Minister Byrne. "This district will benefit from funding allocated under the Canada/Newfoundland Infrastructure Program and the Municipal Capital Works Program."

Projects planned for the District of Baie Verte include:

Canada/Newfoundland Infrastructure Program

• Water system project for Brent�s Cove valued at $75,000;
• In Burlington, phase eight of water and sewer valued at $408,800;
• Servicing of post office loop area in Little Bay for $242,438;
• In Little Bay Islands, additional funding for new chlorination building totaling $90,000;
• Additional funding to supplement filtration, ultraviolet radiation and chlorination in Ming�s Bight for a value of $82,171.

Municipal Capital Works Program

• Paving and road reconstruction for Baie Verte valued at $150,000;
• Roads paving for Seal Cove for $50,000;
• Water and sewer in King�s Point for $34,200;
• In Little Bay Islands, water supply access road repair valued at $36,410.

"These projects will mean significant improvement to services for the residents of the Baie Verte district," said MHA Paul Shelley. "This investment reiterates government�s commitment to improving capital works in Newfoundland and Labrador."
