Premier, Cabinet and caucus to visit Port Union

Premier Danny Williams and his Cabinet will be meeting in the Bonavista area on Tuesday, August 10. Port Union has been chosen as the site of the second offsite Cabinet meeting this summer. The meeting will take place at the Port Union town hall.

The Premier reiterated that visits to various regions of Newfoundland and Labrador are a critical component in governments objective of creating a vision and strategy for revitalization of rural Newfoundland and Labrador.

"The summer represents an excellent opportunity for caucus and Cabinet to get out around the province, especially to our rural communities," said Premier Williams. "It is wonderful to come into these smaller communities for our meetings, because essentially every item on the agenda directly or indirectly impacts our rural regions and the people and families living in these communities. This government has made a strong commitment to the people of this province in terms of rural revitalization, and we all welcome the opportunity to gather for these meetings and to further our collective efforts in this regard."

A photo opportunity with the Premier and his colleagues will take place at the town hall on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. Caucus will also be meeting in the Bonavista area at this time.
