Trans-Labrador Highway upgrades planned

Jim Walsh, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, and Wally Andersen, Minister of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs, today announced plans to upgrade the Trans-Labrador Highway in western Labrador.

"Over the past several years, we have been upgrading the Trans-Labrador Highway in western Labrador. We plan to continue that work this year," said Minister Walsh. "Within the next six weeks the department will call tenders to place crushed gravel on a section of the Trans-Labrador Highway between Ashuanipi River and the Esker intersection."

Minister Andersen said the work demonstrates governments ongoing commitment to improving Labradors transportation systems. "The upgrading of this section of the Trans-Labrador Highway is an integral part of Labradors transportation network," he said. "This work will go a long way in improving driving conditions on the highway."

This project will be funded from the $23 million provincial capital roads program.
