vice president of Swimming/Natation Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador is pleased to announce that Bill Hogan, of St. John's, has been elected vice president of Swimming/Natation Canada. Mr. Hogan was unanimously voted into the position on November 4 at a board of directors meeting for Swimming Canada. Mr. Hogan has a vast history of involvement in swimming at the national and international level. Bill has been a member of the Board of Directors for Swimming Canada since 1996. In this capacity, he has been chair of the Swimming Canada National Officials Committee and the chair for the Rules Committee of Swimming Canada. As an official, Bill has most recently officiated the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona and the Pan Am Games in Santo Domingo. It was announced in August at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona, Spain that Mr. Hogan has been chosen by FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur) to officiate the swimming competition at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece 2004. Only 21 swimming officials are selected for the Olympics and eight must be from the hosting country. Mr. Hogan will be the only Canadian swimming official at the games. Bill is proud that his accomplishments in national and international swimming help to promote swimming in Newfoundland and Labrador.
