Revised fox carcass collection - Rabies Eradication Program

The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation wishes to advise trappers located east of the Bay dEspoir Highway that, effective at the closing of business hours on December 17, 2003, the fox carcass collection program will be discontinued. Any trapper located in this area who wishes to be eligible for the $25 reward for fox carcass submissions should do so at their nearest forestry/wildlife office before the December 17, 2003 deadline.

Trappers are advised that only fox carcass collections will be discontinued and that the collection program for lynx and coyote will continue throughout all areas of the province for the remainder of the season and the $25 reward will remain in place for these species.

The collection program for all species, including fox, west of the Bay dEspoir Highway will remain unchanged for the remainder of the trapping season or until further notice.

The department again wishes to thank the trapping community for their assistance with the Rabies Eradication Program and advises all trappers to take the necessary precautions when handling these animals.
