Electronic town hall scheduled as part of budget consultations

Finance Minister Joan Marie Aylward will host an electronic town hall on Saturday, February 8, as part of her public consultations for the 2003-2004 Budget.

This video and audio conference session will also be held live on the Internet. To view the webcast, go to //www.distance.mun.ca/townhall/ or to www.gov.nl.ca

The session, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will link the minister with the communities of St. Anthony, Port aux Basques, Clarenville, Burin and Whitbourne. In Whitbourne, it will be held at the Dr. William H. Newhook Memorial Clinic. In each of the other locations, the session will be held at the community college.

Facilities at Memorial Universitys Telemedicine/TETRA facilities in St. Johns will be used for the session.

If the blizzard that is forecast for the Avalon and Burin Peninsula regions tomorrow forces cancellation of the session, a public announcement will be made on radio.

In addition to the electronic town hall, Minister Aylward has held roundtable discussions with individuals and groups at various locations throughout the province.

The public can also submit their views in writing to the Minister of Finance by faxing to (709) 729-2070, or mailing to her at Department of Finance, P.O. Box 8700, St. Johns, NL, A1B 4J6.
