NOTE TO EDITORS:

Julie Bettney, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will attend a series of cultural events over the next few days.

Thursday, June 27 - The minister will officially open the Newman Wine Vaults Provincial Historic Site at 440 Water Street, St. John�s at 3:30 p.m. The Wine Vaults are the 11th in the series of provincial historic sites. The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation partnered with the Newfoundland Historic Trust to open the Wine Vaults to the public. They are the only wine vaults of their kind in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Friday, June 28 - The minister will receive the service records of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from the National Archives at a news conference at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Building. These microfilm copies are the first time these records are available to the public for research.

Saturday, June 29 - The minister will attend the official reopening of the Cape Bonavista Provincial Historic Site at 2:30 p.m. in Bonavista. The Bonavista Lighthouse, which is the second oldest lighthouse in the province, is the most popular of all the provincial historic sites. After two years of restorations which included work needed due to the lightning strike last August, the Bonavista Lighthouse is ready to reopen.
