NOTE TO EDITORS:

Media representatives are invited to a presentation by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and its partners of the Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve as a Gift to Canadians. The event will be held at 2 p.m. on June 24, at the Pistolet Bay School in the community of Raleigh on the Northern Peninsula. Attending will be Julie Bettney, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation; Dr. Bill Freedman, chair of the Atlantic Region of the Nature Conservancy of Canada and chair of the biology department for Dalhousie University; Mayor Cyril Taylor of Raleigh; and a number of people who have been involved in the creation of the ecological reserve.

Burnt Cape is an 864-acre peninsula and has been designated as an ecological reserve because it is home to over 30 species of rare plants. A tour of the Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve will follow the event.
