Death of music industry president a loss to province

"It is with great regret that I learned of the death of Roger Skinner," said Kevin Aylward, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. "Roger had a tremendous love for music but an even greater passion for the encouragement of young talent and the development of the music of this province. It was very important to him to share our musical talent with others.

"Our department worked very closely with Roger preparing for the JUNO Awards Show and showcases to accompany the show. He worked hard and passionately, sharing his kindness and humour and demonstrating his vision of how the music industry of this province could grow. For many, including myself, the JUNOs will be a bittersweet event as we celebrate something that Roger believed would be so important to the provinces music industry and remember his passion for the music of this province. A bright light of music and culture in this province has gone out."

On behalf of the government, particularly my staff, I extend to his wife Margaret, daughter Gillian, family, friends and colleagues our heartfelt condolences.
