Government committed to Northern Agrifoods Development Strategy

Rick Woodford, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, and Ernie McLean, Minister of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs, said today that public consultation meetings on the Northern Agrifoods Development Strategy, which get underway this week in Labrador, demonstrate governments commitment to the future development of a viable and diversified agrifoods sector in the region.

"I am pleased that these consultations will allow all stakeholders to present their views on how we can further advance northern food production in Labrador," said Minister Woodford. "Government remains committed to public input, and these meetings will be key to developing an effective development strategy that will benefit the agrifoods industry and all Labradorians."

The agrifoods industry is an important part of continued economic and social development in Labrador, said Minister McLean. "My department is pleased to be working with those pioneering agriculture development in Labrador and with the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods in making the future success of Labradors agrifoods sector a priority."
