p.m. Clyde K. Wells, Chief Justice of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Mrs. Eleanor Wells arrive at Confederation Building and are greeted at the front entrance by the Premier and Mrs. Grimes. The Lieutenant Governor Designate, Edward Moxon Roberts, QC, and Mrs. Eve Roberts, QC, are greeted at the front entrance of Confederation Building by the Premier and Mrs. Grimes. p.m. The Lieutenant Governor Designate and Mrs. Roberts accompanied by Wayne Mitchell, Private Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, are led into the chamber by the Sergeant at Arms. "O Canada" and choral selections - Memorial University Chamber Choir Premier Grimes reads the Royal Commission of Appointment Chief Justice Wells administers the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office to Lieutenant Governor Designate Roberts Signing of the Oaths Registrar General presents the Great Seal of Newfoundland and Labrador Lieutenant Governor's Proclamation read by the Registrar General Lieutenant Governor administers the Oath of Allegiance to Premier Grimes Address by Premier Roger Grimes Address by Minister Gerry Byrne, representing the Government of Canada Musical Selections Address by the Lieutenant Governor "Ode to Newfoundland" - Chamber Choir Official Party leaves the chamber and moves to the lobby The Lieutenant Governor proceeds to the saluting base to receive the Vice Regal Salute from the Canadian Armed Forces. The Lieutenant Governor receives a 15 gun salute.
