$1 million for North West River Highway

The provincial government will spend $1 million over the next two years to upgrade and resurface sections of the North West River Road. The announcement was made today by Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs Minister Ernest McLean and Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett.

"Last month we announced that $500,000 will be spent this year, under the Provincial Capital Roads Program, to upgrade the North West River Road, and today were allocating an additional $500,000," said Mr. McLean. "As the member for Lake Melville, and a resident of North West River, Im pleased to be able to secure this funding to improve this vital road link."

Todays announcement demonstrates governments commitment to improving Newfoundland and Labradors highways, said Mr. Barrett.

"This funding will allow us to upgrade and resurface several sections of the North West River Road," Mr. Barrett said. "As a government, we are committed to improving highways throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Todays announcement demonstrates that commitment."
