Road improvement projects for Harbour Main - Whitbourne

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, today announced that $355,000 has been allocated from the provincial roads program for Harbour Main - Whitbourne.

"The department plans to target several areas for upgrades with this year�s funding," said Barrett. "Motorists will experience improved driving conditions when these projects are completed."

Projects planned for the area include resurfacing a section of Route 81 from the Trans Canada Highway to Whitbourne; coldmilling and resurfacing a section of Route 70 at South River Hill to eliminate ruts; replacing a culvert on Route 80; and replacing arch culverts near Avondale (Route 60) and Daniel�s Cove Road (Route 80 -39).

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
