Road improvement projects announced for Terra Nova

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, and Tom Lush, MHA - Terra Nova, announced today $850,000 will be allocated from the provincial capital roads program for road improvements in the district.

"Government recognizes the need for improvements to provincial highways and this is reflected in the increase in the 2001/02 roads budget," said Mr. Barrett. "This funding will allow significant upgrades to be made to roads in the Terra Nova area."

Projects planned for the area include resurfacing local roads in Port Blandford; upgrading sections of Terra Nova Road; and resurfacing Charlottetown Road including local roads.

"I am very pleased that funding has been allocated to improve road conditions in my district," said Mr. Lush. "These improvements will allow for smooth traffic flow and safer road conditions for residents and business operators in the area."

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next couple of months.
