The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association is ready for the summer. We are now in the process of getting ready for the Canada Games Beach Volleyball Qualifying Series. We are inviting all athletes who are eligibility for the games to come out and compete. 

There will be three beach tournaments over the next few weeks, which will determine the men's, and women's beach volleyball teams. The first will be held in Mount Pearl Saturday, June 16, the deadline to register is June 13. The second tournament will be held in Lumsden Saturday, June 23, the deadline to register is June 20. The last of the qualifying series will be held in Pasadena, Saturday, June 30, the deadline to register is June 27. The entry fee is $15.00 each athlete per event.

All teams must attend the Lumsden event to qualify for the games, and each team must also attend two out of the three of the tournaments in order to qualify.

In order to be involved in the qualifying series you must be eligible. You must be a Canadian citizen (male or female) or a landed immigrant born in 1980 or later (junior age plus one year) that is a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The format of the qualifying series is as follows:

All tournaments will be set up as round robin play with all teams making the play-off round. 
The play-off will be a single elimination round.
Each match will be a best of three competitions with rally point scoring to 21 points (win by 2).
Third game tie breaker will be to 15 pts (win by 2).
Points will be awarded based on final placings for each event.
A combination of the two best results will be added together for final point total. 
(1st 10 pts, 2nd 7pts, Semis 5pts, others 3pts )
Lumsden ( 1st 12pts, 2nd 7pts, Semis 5pts, others 3pts)
