The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Pepsi Midget +1 Provincial Girls and Boys Volleyball Tournaments

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association will be hosting two of 21 Pepsi Minor Provincial Championships for the 2001 season this weekend on March 2 � 3. The Midget +1 Girls event will have 12 teams competing for top honours in CBS, with all matches to be played at Queen Elizabeth and Frank Roberts. The teams will be broken into two divisions with the top two from each advancing to the playoffs that are scheduled for late Saturday afternoon.

Division A is comprised of the following: Holy Heart - St. John�s, CBS Sabres - Conception Bay South, St. Bernard�s Predators, Corner Brook Midgets, Islanders - Bell Island, and Trinity Bright Barons. Division B Bishop�s Barons - St. John�s, St. Pauls Vipers - St. John�s, Roncalli Cardinals - Avondale, Smallwood Academy Panthers- Gambo, North Shore Cougars - Northern Bay and Humber Valley Havoc- Corner Brook.

The Pepsi Midget +1 Boys Championship will be held in Bay Roberts at Ascension High School, with 12 teams set to see action in two divisions. The top two teams will qualify for playoffs that are scheduled for late Saturday afternoon.

Division A will be comprised of: Ascension Collegiate - Bay Roberts, Hitman and the Braves B both from St. John�s, Smallwood Academy Panthers - Gambo, Southwest Arm, Summit Cougars- Clarenville. Division B will be comprised of Roncalli Cardinals - Avondale, CBS Sabres, Beothuck Volleyball Club - Grand Falls-Windsor, Braves A - St. John�s, St. Mark�s Lions - Kings Cove, and Trinity Bright � Port Rexton.

Browning Harvey, the provincial sponsor of NLVA minor volleyball, supplies all awards for the championships. Any further information may be obtained by calling the NLVA at (709) 576-0817.
