Minister announces opening of three caribou zones in Labrador

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation and minister responsible for wildlife, announced today that effective immediately the Bay of Islands, Seal Lake and Orma North caribou management zones in Labrador will be opened to caribou hunting. The minister has received information that George River caribou are heading in these directions, with some animals already entering the zones.

"The staff of my department will continue to monitor the movement of the George River caribou herd and additional areas may open pending movements of the George River animals," said Minister Aylward. "I would like to wish all hunters a successful hunt and encourage everyone to exercise caution and safety in their pursuit."
