More provincial parks open for the 2001 season

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that two more provincial parks have opened for the 2001 season. Sandbanks Provincial Park and J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park both opened today. Sandbanks has 25 sites open and J.T. Cheeseman has 102 sites open.

This announcement brings the number of provincial parks open for the season to eight with the remaining 12, including the province's six Natural and Scenic Attraction Provincial Parks, scheduled to open shortly. In addition, the Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve opened for the 2001 season on Friday, May 11.

"I invite everyone to fully explore and enjoy all that the provincial parks have to offer," said Minister Aylward. "I would also like to wish all residents and tourists a safe and very enjoyable summer and ask that all park users do their part to help protect the natural environment for the benefit of present and future generations."
