NOTE TO EDITORS:

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, would like to invite members of the media to attend the 2001 Provincial Arts and Letters Competition awards evening on Thursday, May 3. The event will take place at the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre. 

This year, approximately 60 awards will be presented in a variety of categories, ranging from poetry and prose to musical composition to visual arts and the Percy Janes First Novel Award. 

A reception will be held at the Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labrador at 7:30 p.m. to be followed by the presentation of awards commencing at 8:30 p.m. at the Upper Concourse.
