Minister announces funding for Arts and Culture Centres

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced $183,000 for the provinces Arts and Culture Centres.

"There are six Arts and Culture Centres located throughout the province, which is an exceptional number of this type of facility for a province our size," said Minister Aylward. "The Arts and Culture Centres will share an additional $183,000 to permit an expansion of programming to better serve the people in the communities where they are located."

The Arts and Culture Centres have a mandate to preserve, develop and present the cultural diversity of Newfoundland and Labrador through a wide variety of programming. These centres throughout the province also address the needs and opportunities for cultural development in the regions where they are located.

"This funding will significantly contribute to the Arts and Culture Centres ability to play a larger role in the cultural development of the province," added Aylward.
