Department monitoring status of contract talks

Yesterday's walkout by school support staff on Fogo Island is being closely monitored by the Department of Labour, reports Labour Minister Anna Thistle.

Around the clock mediation services have been made available to both parties, the Newfoundland and Labrador School Boards Association and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE), since talks began.

"All efforts are being focussed on finding a resolution satisfactory to both parties and every attempt will be made to avert any disruption in school services," says Minister Thistle.
