Charges laid resulting from collision
Humber Valley Paving Limited of Corner Brook, and one of its equipment operators, Donald Sceviour, have been charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The charges stem from an accident which occurred June 6, 2000, in which a worker sustained neck injuries when the vehicle in which he was driving was rear-ended by the vehicle driven by Sceviour.
Humber Valley Paving Limited is charged with failing to regularly inspect machinery and equipment, as well as failure to maintain mobile equipment in a safe operating condition.
Sceviour has been charged for allegedly failing to maintain full control of the equipment for which he was responsible, and for failing to report defects and conditions affecting safe operation of this equipment.
Pleas for these charges are expected to be entered on July 12, at Provincial Court in Deer Lake.
