Opening date announced for House of Assembly

Government House Leader Tom Lush today announced that the House of Assembly will resume sitting on November 19, 2001.

Government will bring forward a number of pieces of legislation during the fall session, including the Child and Youth Advocate Act, Environmental Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and the Labour Standards Act," said Minister Lush. "These key pieces of legislation are examples of this government�s priority to the people of the province. We look forward to a busy and productive fall sitting."

Minister Lush added that the fall session of the House of Assembly will be televised on local cable stations across the province. "This marks the first time the provincial legislature has been televised and we are pleased to provide this service to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador," said Minister Lush
