The following is being distributed at the request of the Council of Atlantic Premiers.

NOTE TO EDITORS: 3rd Session of the Council of Atlantic Premiers

Premier Pat Binns will host and chair the Council of Atlantic Premiers meeting to be held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on April 2, 2001. Premiers Roger Grimes, John Hamm, and Bernard Lord will be in attendance. The premiers will discuss issues of mutual interest related to the upcoming national premiers' meeting and other national issues such as shipbuilding, trade, and equalization.

The meeting will commence at 8:40 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2001, at the Atlantic Veterinary College, 550 University Avenue, Charlottetown. A photo opportunity will be available at 8:30 - 8:40 a.m. in the AVC Faculty Lounge. A news conference will be held in Room 201N (Lecture Theatre A) at 2:20 p.m. following a tour of the Veterinary College and a private lunch for premiers. Simultaneous interpretation services will be provided during the news conference. News releases issued from the meeting will be distributed by each province's communications office following the meeting.

The media working area will be located in Room 220S and will be available at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2.

Media representatives planning to cover the meeting, including journalists, photographers, camera operators, and technicians, are asked to register by submitting their name, affiliation, and contact information to the address below by March 29. On-site registration will be available.
