Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received, copies may be obtained by contacting the Department of Environment or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Resource Road Amendments to the Five-Year Operating Plan for Forest Management District 16
Proponent: Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited

The proponent proposes construction of six kilometres of primary resource road and 20.5 kilometres of secondary resource road to access timber stands for the current District 16 Five-Year Operating Plan (1997-2001). Construction is proposed in the following operating areas: White River Ridge, Humber North Branch, Eastern Ridge, Kittys Brook, Wigwam, River Road, and Grassey Pond. The project was registered on June 8, 2001, public comments are due July 18, and the minister's decision is due July 23.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

South Branch (Codroy River) Vegetable Farm and Access Road
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

The minister has released the project from environmental assessment in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Assessment Act.
