Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following event relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Five Year Forest Management Plan, 2001-2006, (District 2) Bonavista Peninsula Area
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

The plan includes existing and proposed forest access roads; operating areas designated for timber harvesting; timber harvesting methods and rehabilitation plans; an estimate of the total allowable harvest; and operating areas designated for silviculture.

Argentia Access Road Farm Expansion
Proponent: Rushmere Farms

The farm plan is to develop a diverse operation consisting of sheep and/or bison and/or beef production along with small fruit, medicinal herbs and some greenhouse production.

These undertakings were registered on March 2, 2001, public comments are due April 6 and the minister's decision is due on April 16.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

The minister has released the following project from environmental assessment in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Assessment Act:

Salmon Cove Medicinal Herb Agriculture Farm
Proponent: Salmon Cove Future Development Association
