The following is being distributed at the request of Newfoundland and Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

Provincial high school wrestling championships this weekend

High school wrestlers from across the province will converge on Bell Island this coming weekend. St. Michael�s High will host the high school wrestling championships for male and female. A total of 95 males and 52 females will be competing. Titles will be contested in 18 weight classes ranging from 75 lbs to 210 lbs and heavyweight. The team accumulating the most points will be awarded the championship banner.

In addition to St. Michael�s from Bell Island, the following schools will be represented:

Holy Trinity, Torbay; Templeton Collegiate, Gilliams; Stephenville High; Herdman Collegiate, Corner Brook; Peninsula High, Piccadilly; St. James High, Lark Harbour; St. Augustine�s High, Plum Point, and Holy Trinity High of Norman�s Cove.

Weigh-in is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. Friday. Opening cCeremonies are 7-8:30 Friday night and competition will get under way at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and concluding at 6 p.m.
