More provincial parks open for the 2000 season

Charles Furey, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced the opening dates of the remaining Provincial Parks and Natural Scenic Attractions.

Opening Friday, May 26, 2000:
Sandbanks Provincial Park
Sir Richard Squires Provincial Park
J. T. Cheeseman Provincial Park

Opening Friday, June 2, 2000:
Dildo Run Provincial Park
Pistolet Bay Provincial Park
Pinware River Provincial Park

Opening Friday, June 9, 2000:
Blow Me Down Provincial Park
The Arches Provincial Park, Natural Scenic Attraction
Cataracts Provincial Park, Natural Scenic Attraction
Codroy Valley Provincial Park, Natural Scenic Attraction
Deadman�s Bay Provincial Park, Natural Scenic Attraction
Dungeon Provincial Park, Natural Scenic Attraction
Gooseberry Cove Provincial Park, Natural Scenic Attraction

Parks and reserves already opened for the season include: Lockston Path Provincial Park, Butter Pot Provincial Park, LaManche Provincial Park, Notre Dame Provincial Park, Frenchman�s Cove Provincial Park, Barachios Pond Park, Chance Cove Provincial Park and Cape St. Mary�s Ecological Reserve.

"From the awesome sand dunes and sandy beaches at Sandbanks Parks to the more than 50 species of birds at LaManche, there is much to see and do while visiting our provincial parks and natural attractions," said Furey. "The summer is quickly approaching and I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to experience sights and sounds of our beautiful province."

Minister Furey also wished all residents and tourists a safe and enjoyable summer and asked that all park users do their part to help protect the natural environment of the province�s special places, including its provincial parks, for the benefit of present and future generations.
