Campsite availability - Notre Dame Provincial Park

Charles Furey, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that changes have been instituted with respect to campsite availability at Notre Dame Provincial Park for the Victoria Day weekend period of Wednesday, May 17, 2000 to Monday, May 22, 2000. This is in addition to the special regulations normally instituted during this period.

Users of this park are advised that campsites 1 to 58 and 93 to 100 have been reserved for family groups who wish to spend a quiet yet pleasurable weekend enjoying its natural environment, programs and services. While all campsites are available on a first come first served basis, they will be assigned at the discretion of park staff and those using the park are advised that all regulations will be strictly enforced.

It is hoped that this will provide everyone the opportunity to put the long winter behind them and enjoy the "great outdoors" in a manner which is as safe and pleasurable as possible.

Minister Furey wished all residents and tourists a safe and enjoyable Victoria Day weekend and invited everyone to spend some time this summer exploring at least one of the provinces provincial parks or natural areas, maybe even one they have not visited before. He asked that everyone do their part to help protect the natural environment by ensuring that they tidy any area they may use and leave it as unspoiled as they found it for the next person.
