Appointments to the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities

Justice Minister and Attorney General Kelvin Parsons is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Vey, Fred Saunders, John (Bill) Flynn and Don Powell as part-time commissioners for the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities (PUB). The appointments are for a three-year term.

The PUB is a quasi-judicial tribunal with responsibilities for the regulation of public utilities, automobile insurance and the motor carrier industry.

Re-appointed for a second term:

Gary Vey of Gander is a businessman and former Member of the House of Assembly for the District of Gander.

Fred Saunders of St. John�s is a transportation consultant and former President and CEO of Day and Ross (Nfld.) Limited.

John (Bill) Flynn of Carbonear is a lawyer and former Chairman of the Labour Standards Tribunal.

First term appointment:

Don Powell of Stephenville is a business consultant and founding Chairperson of the Long Range Community Futures Program.
