Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown for each item.

NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Slipway, Wharf and Breakwater Near Little Rapids, Humber River
Proponent: Michael L. Joy

The proponent plans to construct a slipway, wharf and breakwater to tie up a small float plane on the south side of the Humber River between the communities of Humber Village and Little Rapids. The area required for construction will be approximately 400 metres square plus construction of a breakwater. The undertaking was registered on October 13, public comments are due on November 17, and the minister's decision is due on November 27.

DRAFT GUIDELINES FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT (EIS):

Duck Pond (Millertown Area) Copper-Zinc Mine
Proponent: Thundermin Resources Inc./Queenston Mining Inc.

The minister has released for public review the draft guidelines for the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement for the Duck Pond (Millertown area) Copper-Zinc Mine. Comments on the draft guidelines are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to November 23. As per the new Environmental Assessment Act, Terms of Reference for the EIS are no longer required from the proponent. The minister issues guidelines for the preparation of an EIS. The public are given 40 days to provide comment on the draft guidelines.

The minister has released the following projects from environmental assessment as per requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act:

East Coast Trail Association
