The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

John McGrath, chairman of the board of governors of the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame and Angela King, president of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador, are pleased to announce the appointments of Jeff Babstock, of St. John's, and Roy Oldford, of Grand Falls-Windsor, to the board of governors and Ben Lake of St. John's and Doug Moores of Harbour Grace to the selection committee. All will serve three year terms.

Jeff Babstock, a physical educator, is a member of the Sports Hall of Fame and had an outstanding soccer career with Memorial University, the Guards Soccer Club and Canada's National Soccer Team.

Roy Oldford of Grand Falls-Windsor, a retired educator, has served in various executive capacities in golf, curling, minor hockey and baseball in the Grand Falls-Windsor region and at the provincial level.

Ben Lake, a St. John's businessman, is a member of the Sports Hall of Fame and former Sport Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Executive of the year. He was vice-president of the Canadian Soccer Association and president of the Newfoundland Soccer Association.

Doug Moores, a Bay Roberts lawyer, was a noted goaltender with the Conception Bay Cee Bees and Memorial University Beothuks during his hockey playing days. He was also chairman of the Host Committee for the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games held in the Carbonear-Harbour Grace region.

They also announced that Ian Campbell of St. John's will be chairman of the selection committee.
