The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador: The annual general meeting of Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador was held over the weekend at the Max Simms Camp in central Newfoundland. On Friday and Saturday, 32 delegates representing the board of directors and swim clubs from all over the island and Labrador, met in sessions led by Swimming Canada Vice-President Ed Evelly, to work on a new strategic plan. When complete, the document will define the focus of competitive swimming in the province over the next four years. At another session during the weekend, Glenda Janes of Community Services presented a workshop on screening volunteers and staff. Sunday morning saw the election of the 1999/2000 executive.
